Key points

  • Science of Phages is published by Parallel Health, a precision-dermatology company. We state this plainly on every page.
  • Content is educational and sourced to peer-reviewed literature, with citations linked inline.
  • Pages are reviewed by Parallel Health’s dermatology and scientific leadership and carry a review date.
  • We sell tests and skincare. Where we reference them, we disclose the connection and keep the science separable from the offer.

Why this resource exists

The science connecting the skin microbiome to common skin conditions is strong, growing, and badly explained online. Most of what surfaces is either oversimplified marketing or paywalled journals. This library exists to sit in between: accurate enough that a clinician would not wince, readable enough that a person searching at midnight can follow it.

Who we are

This site is a publication of Parallel Health, a teledermatology and precision-microbiome company. Our scientific team works in microbial genomics and bacteriophage biology; our clinical work is delivered by licensed dermatology providers. You can review our scientific and medical leadership directly.

How we source

  • Primary literature first. Claims about mechanism or evidence are cited to peer-reviewed papers, linked inline so you can verify them.
  • We mark uncertainty. Where findings are inconsistent or early, we say so rather than rounding up to certainty.
  • We date our reviews. Each page shows when it was last reviewed, because this field moves.
  • We separate science from sale. Product mentions are labelled and placed apart from the explanatory content.

Our disclosure

We have a commercial interest: Parallel Health offers skin microbiome testing, custom phage serums, and microbiome-supportive skincare. We believe the honest way to hold that interest is to disclose it everywhere and to let the sourcing carry the credibility. Nothing on this site is sponsored by a third party, and we do not present commercial content as independent editorial.

How we handle medical claims

This site is educational and is not medical advice. We describe what conditions are and what the research shows; we do not promise outcomes. Statements about wellness products have not been evaluated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. If you have a skin condition, a licensed clinician should evaluate it. Parallel Health’s clinical services are provided by its licensed teledermatology practice and are LegitScript-certified.

Corrections

If you find an error or a citation that no longer supports a claim, tell us through Parallel Health and we will fix or remove it. Accuracy is the entire value of a reference.

Start with your own data

See what is actually on your skin

The most useful next step is rarely a product — it is information. A skin microbiome test shows which microbes dominate your skin and where the balance has shifted, so any decision after that is grounded in your data rather than an average.
